The XXII session of the Administrative Council of the Eurasian Patent Organization

On 10-12 November 2009 in Moscow, Russian Federation, has held the XXII session of the Administrative Council of the Eurasian Patent Organization (AC OEAB).

At the opening of the current session, President of the Administrative Council of Eurasian Patent Organization Mr. D. Chirosca (Director General AGEPI) presented the delegations of Member States and international organizations EAPO. The meeting was attended by plenipotentiary representatives of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, and Tajikistan. As observers were representatives of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), European Patent Office (EPO), African Regional Intellectual Property Organization (ARIPO) and the African Intellectual Property Organization (OHIM).

According to the agenda was heard EAPO report for 2008 (Rapporteur - President EAPO Mr. A. Grigoriev), which was approved unanimously, taking into consideration the recommendations of the fourteenth session of the Working Group of the CA EAPO budget.

He also presented the report on the implementation of development program Eurasian Patent Organization for the years 2004 - 2009, and the main directions of development of EAPO for the years 2010-2014.

Another item on the agenda referred to the changes and additions to Administrative Instruction EAPO, CA OEAB Rules of Procedure and Regulation on the working conditions of employees of this organization.

CA OEAB noted signing the Memorandum of Understanding on bilateral cooperation between the Korean Intellectual Property Office and the Eurasian Patent Organization and the Agreement on using the Eurasian documentation system and the base in the field of patent and utility models of the Industrial Property Office of Czech Republic.

The information about the proposed relations and cooperation between WIPO Member States and EAPO Organization was of great interest for the participants. As a result, they agreed on the necessity of a detailed study of its impact on the development of bilateral cooperation between national authorities with WIPO.

An official statement from the African Regional Intellectual Property Organization made the main specialist of the Department of Documentation and publishing ARIPO Mr. Wilbrod Mulenga. He stated the importance of experience exchange and cooperation between the two regional organizations that have similar objectives, and tend to develop and strengthen friendly relations and cooperation between EAPO and ARIPO. The President of the Administrative Council of Eurasian Patent Organization on behalf of participants in the meeting thanked the representative of ARIPO for the intentions of declared cooperation.

CA OEAB decided to conduct next regular session in November 2010.
