On April 9, this year, the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova adopted, in the second reading, the Draft Law on Topographies of Semiconductor Products, marking an important step in the modernization of the national normative framework in the field of intellectual property protection.
The new normative act aims to align national legislation with developments in the field and international standards, as well as transpose the relevant provisions of the European Union normative framework. At the same time, the law aims to improve the procedures for examination of applications for registration and grant of protection titles for topographies of semiconductor products.
At the same time, the new regulations strengthen the legal protection offered to holders through the registration certificate, introduce effective defense mechanisms in the event of infringement of rights and contribute to the valorization of acquired rights.
For applicants and holders, the law brings significant benefits, by establishing clear, efficient registration procedures aligned with European standards, providing an increased level of legal predictability.
The adoption of this normative act contributes to creating a safer and more attractive environment for innovation and investment in the technological field, supporting the development of the knowledge-based economy and strengthening the intellectual property protection system of the Republic of Moldova.
