In the period from March 31 to April 3, 2013, at the AGEPI took place the visit of the representatives of Strategy and Appeals Directorate of the Appeals Service of the State Office for Inventions and Trademarks of Romania (OSIM) for an exchange of experience on settlement of appeals in the examination of applications for titles of protection of industrial property objects.
The working visit was organized under the Joint Program of Cooperation between AGEPI and OSIM for 2011-2013, based on the Convention of Cooperation between OSIM and AGEPI, signed in Chisinau on March 3, 2000, and the Addendum to the Convention of March 11, 2010.
OSIM delegation was led by Mr. Petre Ohan, Director of the Strategy and Appeals Directorate. In accordance with the program of the visit, members of the OSIM delegation attended the meetings of the AGEPI Board of Appeals, which took place on 1-2 April this year, in which appeals were considered on certain industrial property objects, being made an exchange of views on the practices applied by offices in the procedure of examination and settlement of appeals lodged, the provisions of national legislations on settlement of disputes, the role of patent attorneys, etc.
AGEPI Board of Appeals is an administrative body responsible for settlement of disputes in the field of protection of industrial property. Within the competence of the Board of Appeals falls the settlement of appeals lodged against decisions of registration or refusal of registration of intellectual property objects, decisions issued under the procedure of examination of applications and grant of titles of protection for intellectual property objects, as well as those issued the period of validity of the titles of protection.
