Information Lesson on Intellectual Property, organized by AGEPI on the Occasion of World Intellectual Property Day

04/28/2026

In the context of World Intellectual Property Day, marked this year under the theme “IP and Sports: Ready, Set, Innovate!”, the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI) organized an information lesson on intellectual property for students of the Institute of Physical Education and Sports.

During the lesson, Andrei Moisei, principal specialist of the Promotion and Training Section, presented essential concepts related to the notion of intellectual property (patent, trademark, design, copyright and related rights), highlighted the connection between creativity, technology, sports and intellectual property objects and elucidated several aspects on athletes’ rights in creations or elements associated with their activity (autobiographies, photographs, videos, personal logos, use of name, etc.).

The students were informed about the role of innovation in the field of sports, the importance of using original and safe products in sports activities, the impact of counterfeiting on the performance and safety of athletes, and also about how intellectual property directly contributes to the development of the sports industry, from high-performance equipment and advanced technologies to branding and design.

The lesson aimed to increase the level of information among young people on the importance of intellectual property and its impact on sports. The activity is part of the AGEPI tradition of organizing open lessons and informative sessions for young people, aimed at developing legal culture and respect for intellectual creation.
