In order to assist the evaluation of implementation of the WIPO project “Improvement of National, Subregional and Regional IP Institutional and User Capacity”, by which the Republic of Moldova took advantage of the technical and methodological assistance in developing the National Intellectual Property Strategy for 2012 - 2020, on 20-22 August 2012 took place the visit to Chisinau of the external evaluator of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) S. Fredrick Musungu.
During this mission, Mr. S.F. Musungu held several meetings with AGEPI experts responsible for the development of the project components of the National Intellectual Property Strategy, with the representatives of public authorities responsible for the implementation of intellectual property rights, including those of the Department for Investigation of Offenses of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Department for Customs Control and Appointment of the Customs Service.
In addition, the WIPO evaluator met with Patent Attorneys of the Republic of Moldova, representatives of the New Technology and Technology Transfer Department of the State University of Medicine and Pharmacy “N. Testemitanu”.
The evaluation report of the project will be submitted to WIPO Member States within the framework of the General Assembly to be held in October this year.
Please note that in the implementation of the WIPO project, after extensive interviews with more than 50 institutions, stakeholders, non-governmental organizations and others, WIPO experts identified the priorities and specific actions to achieve them, and made recommendations on the development of IP Strategy for the Republic of Moldova.
