The 6th meeting of the Azerbaijan-Moldova Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation was held in Baku, Republic of Azerbaijan, from 9 to 11 April 2025. The delegation of the Republic of Moldova was led by Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Bolea.
The parties addressed topical issues on the Moldovan-Azerbaijani agenda, placing particular emphasis on economic, trade and investment cooperation, as well as on developing cooperation in the field of transport, exploring opportunities for green energy exports and strengthening relations in the agricultural sector, as well as strengthening cooperation in the field of intellectual property.
Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Bolea mentioned during the meeting that the Republic of Moldova is interested in organizing the meeting of the Azerbaijan-Moldova Joint Commission onr Road Transport and initiating discussions on the liberalization of road freight transport between our country and Azerbaijan. The Deputy Prime Minister also emphasized the interest of the Republic of Moldova in organizing bilateral trade fairs and exhibitions in the agri-food sector and in boosting agri-food exports to Azerbaijan. Other topics of interest analyzed concerned the energy sector, labor and social protection, as well as education.
The meeting’s agenda also included bilateral and multilateral meetings aimed at deepening cooperation in various fields, including intellectual property. The delegation of the Republic of Moldova also included Eugeniu Rusu, Director General of the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI).
During the event, Eugeniu Rusu had a bilateral meeting with Kamran Imanov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Intellectual Property Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan (COPAT). The discussions focused on the development of bilateral cooperation in the field of intellectual property, the exchange of best practices and the exploration of opportunities for joint projects.
In this regard, the two institutions agreed to sign a Memorandum of Understanding. This Memorandum will represent an important step in ensuring the protection of intellectual property rights and the development of a sustainable partnership between AGEPI and COPAT.
AGEPI reaffirms its commitment to contribute to the expansion of bilateral and multilateral cooperation in order to strengthen the intellectual property system both regionally and globally.
