AGEPI Has Launched the Activity Report for 2020


The State Agency on Intellectual Property announces the launch of the Annual Report, which reflects the complex and multilateral activity of the institution during 2020.

The report contains relevant information, including statistical and analytical data, on the processes of patenting and registration of intellectual property objects (IPOs), legislative developments, and also activities to promote intellectual property at national and international level.

Although the past year was strongly marked by the COVID-19 pandemic and AGEPI’s activity took place under specific conditions, determined by the negative impact of the epidemiological and economic crisis, we note with satisfaction that interest in intellectual property has maintained at a relatively high level.

During the period under review, a total of 10,018 applications for the grant and renewal of IPOs protection, which is an increase by over 2.5% compared to 2019. The same trend is attested in the chapter Granted Protection, including Renewals, being registered an increase in the number of IPOs to which protection were granted or renewed, by 2.4% compared to the previous period.

Despite the restrictions of mobility and organization of events in person, AGEPI continued its activities of IP promotion and training, and also of strengthening international cooperation, which were mainly organized in the virtual environment.

The priority actions of AGEPI for 2021, meant to contribute to the development and increase of performance in all areas of competence of the institution are also presented in the Report.
