UN Economic Commission for Europe launched the Sub-Regional Innovation Policy Outlook 2020: Eastern Europe and South Caucasus

Launch of the publication “Sub-Regional Innovation Policy Outlook 2020: Eastern Europe and South Caucasus” took place on 26 November this year, in videoconference regime.

The outlook was conducted by the UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) in a regional project in which the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research of the Republic of Moldova also participated, as a national focal point.

The outlook aims to assess the scope and quality of innovation policies, institutions and processes across six countries in Eastern Europe and South Caucasus (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine).

The project “Sub-Regional Innovation Policy Outlook” was launched by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe with the financial support of Sweden, at the launch being present the Swedish Ambassador to the UN Anna Jardfeld.

The launch event was attended by senior UNECE officials, including Elisabeth Tuerk, UNECE Director of Economic Cooperation and Trade Division, Olga Algayerova, Executive Secretary of UNECE and Daren Tang, Director General WIPO.

The Secretary General of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research Anatolie Topala, in his speech, thanked the UNECE representatives for the analysis and recommendations for improving the innovation ecosystem of the Republic of Moldova, assuring partners and the scientific and research community in the country of the commitment of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research to take all necessary actions to address the challenges faced by the national research and innovation system.
