Meeting of the Members of the Observatory on Enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights Was Held

The working session of the members of the Observer of Intellectual Property Rights (RDPI Observer) was held on December 14, this year, at the headquarters of the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI). The meeting was attended by representatives of AGEPI, the State Inspectorate for Supervision of Non-Food Products and Consumer Protection, the Competition Council, the Agency for Courts Administration, the Customs Service and the Prosecutor General’s Office.

The meeting was chaired by Eugeniu Rusu, Director General of AGEPI and, at the same time, Chair of the Observatory.

The participants in the meeting discussed about the measures to make interinstitutional communication more efficient, the improvement of the Intellectual Property Protection Information System, as well as the action plan of the Observatory on EIPR for the year 2023. Another topic on the agenda was the structure, the format, the deadlines for data presentation and the content of the National Report on the Protection and Enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights in the Republic of Moldova for 2022. The participants also discussed the topic related to the powers of the authorities to detect and examine contraventions in the field of intellectual property.

Those present positively appreciated the cooperation they have with AGEPI, expressing their interest and readiness to contribute to the efficiency of the activity of the Observatory on EIPR in the future.

We remind you that, the Interinstitutional Order on the activity of the Observatory on Enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights was signed on October 19, this year. The document was approved and signed by the administration of the public authorities responsible for the enforcement of intellectual property rights in the Republic of Moldova, namely: the State Agency on Intellectual Property, the General Police Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Customs Service, the Prosecutor General’s Office, the Agency for Courts Administration, the State Inspectorate for Supervision of Non-Food Products and Consumer Protection and the Competition Council.

The Observatory on Enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights has been active within AGEPI since 2011. The purpose of its creation was to ensure the exchange of information between the authorities responsible for monitoring the enforcement of intellectual property rights, and also to prepare reports, analytical and statistical studies in the field. At the same time, the Observatory exercises the functions of the World Trade Organization Notification Center on the implementation of the TRIPs Agreement and is an effective means of promoting the activities carried out by various authorities, institutions involved in combating intellectual property rights infringements.
