Innovation International Conference “Innovation, Intellectual Property and Economic Development” has started its work

In the period 23-24 November this year, within the premises of the Azure Hall of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, is held the Innovation International Conference entitled “Innovation, Intellectual Property and Economic Development”.

The event is organized by the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI) with the support of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in partnership with the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Moldova, Academy of Sciences of Moldova (ASM), Agency for Innovation and Technology Transfer (AITT) and Organization for Small and Medium Enterprises Sector Development (ODIMM).

At the International Conference Innovative, in its second edition, are present representatives of the World Organization of Intellectual Property, European Patent Office (EPO) and representatives of Intellectual Property Offices of Romania, Spain, Georgia, Czech Republic, Austria, Hungary and Estonia who will share their own experience in the field of protection and promotion of innovations as a driving force for the development of a knowledge-based economy. In the event also participate representatives of institutions and organizations active in the field of research, innovation and technology transfer of the Republic of Moldova, including directors and specialists from academic institutions, universities, scientific-technological parks and innovation incubators, specialists in intellectual property protection, and of business environment, especially from the small and medium enterprises sector.

In opening the conference, Director General of AGEPI Octavian Apostol welcomed the participants and said that the goal of this event is to support and to promote the role of innovations in society, to develop the regional and international scientific-technical cooperation and encourage business- science partnerships. Octavian Apostol encouraged the participants in the Conference to actively engage in discussions and debates.

Further, Carlo Pandolfi, Director of International Cooperation Department of the EPO, stated that the Conference is a great opportunity for international experts to listen the vision of Moldovan colleagues and also to talk about how the EPO could collaborate with our country to support innovation.

At the same time, Virag Halgand, representative of the World Intellectual Property Organization noted at the event that the Conference will highlight the policy framework and strategies regarding exploitation of intellectual property by small and medium-sized enterprises and the link between research and business.

With a welcome speech to the participants also addressed Ion Tighineanu, First Vice President of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova. He thanked the foreign guests for coming to Chisinau, bringing with them the European experience.

During the two days of the Innovation International Conference, participants will hear a series of communications on issues related to national policies and strategies in innovation and intellectual property for economic growth and increased competitiveness; the role of intellectual property in the transfer of knowledge and technology from research to business; public-private partnership in the process of exploitation of innovation and intellectual property: the best practices in the field of business development; exploitation of intellectual property by SMEs; management of intellectual property and marketing of innovative products and services.

The Innovation International Conference fits into the Program of events organized within the International Specialized Exhibition “INFOINVENT”, fourteenth edition, which will be held in the period 25-28 November 2015 at IEC “MOLDEXPO”.
