On Wednesday, February 27 this year, the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI) organized at the SUMPh “Nicolae Testemitanu” a training seminar for doctoral students from various specialties in medicine.
The seminar aimed to familiarize doctoral students with the national intellectual property protection System. The meeting was moderated by Mr. Petru Grosu, Deputy Director of Inventions and Plant Varieties Department of AGEPI, who presented the legal and regulatory framework in the field of protection of inventions of the Republic of Moldova, IP retrieval sources, and practical aspects on preparation of documents necessary for requesting and obtaining patent protection for a new product or process in the field of medicine.
The participants in the Seminar received exhaustive answers to questions concerning the protection of medicinal preparations, the procedure laid down in the legislation on the protection of inventions in the Republic of Moldova, rights offered by the patent for invention, etc.
“I was pleasantly surprised by the knowledge already acquired by students regarding the protection of intellectual property. I have been addressed clear and direct questions to the theme, which indicates a satisfactory level of preparedness in this area”, said the Deputy Director of the Inventions and Plant Varieties Department of AGEPI.
The conduct of activities on dissemination of knowledge on the need for protection and enforcement of IP rights and the development of practical skills to future specialists in this area is part of the process of training students and doctoral students in the IP field, being the main objective of the Cooperation Agreement between AGEPI and SUMPh “Nicolae Testemitanu”, signed in 2009.
