The Importance of Creative Industries, Discussed in a Follow-up Organized by AGEPI

On November 18, the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI), in partnership with the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research, organized a Follow-up entitled “Creative Industries: From Idea to Business”. Approximately 150 people attended the event, which took place at Moldexpo.

The purpose of the event was to promote the importance of creative industries as well as to highlight solutions that would boost economic growth in this area.

The Follow-up was opened by AGEPI Director General Lilia Bolocan, who spoke about the activities of promoting and supporting the field of creative industries in the Republic of Moldova.

Also, Andrei Chistol, Head of the Cabinet of the Minister of Education, Culture and Research, presented information on the implementation of the EU Creative Europe Program in the Republic of Moldova and the opportunities offered to entrepreneurs in the field of creative industries.

The following speakers followed:

  • Arnold Vahrewald, international expert in intellectual property;
  • Olga Radu, president of the Association of Creative Industry Companies;
  • Iurie Badicu, composer, producer and musical critic;
  • Vlad Costandoi, director of Sens Music, president of the National Association of Music Industry;
  • Daniela Burlaca, actress, director and founder member of the Theatre “Studio Genesis Art”;
  • Alexandrin Buraga, architect and entrepreneur;
  • Dumitru Talmazan, Digital Communication specialist.

The speakers shared their own experiences and talked about the substantial potential of the creative industries sector, which could be an important asset in the social and economic development of the Republic of Moldova.

In recent years, creative industries in the Republic of Moldova are experiencing rapid development. The study conducted in 2014 at national level, at the request of AGEPI, with the support of the World Intellectual Property Organization, confirmed that creative industries in the Republic of Moldova can be considered as an important sector that influences economic growth and creates new jobs.

The atmosphere in the event was distinguished by the formation 7 Klase.

AGEPI kicked off discussions about the importance of creative industries as early as November 14, in the framework of an event entitled “Kitchen of Creative Industries”. The workshop was hosted by the Studio Gastronomic - Lo Chef. During the event, AGEPI Director General Lilia Bolocan; composer, producer and music critic Iurie Badicu; Director General of the OWH TV STUDIO Film House Virgil Margineanu and actress Mihaela Strambeanu put their kitchen aprons and cooked triangular dumplings.

While cooking, the guests discussed about the importance of creative industries. Discussions on the importance of this sector continued in the Follow-up: “Creative Industries: From Idea to Business”.

The events dedicated to the creative industries were part of the series of activities organized by AGEPI in the context of the International Specialized Exhibition “INFOINVENT”, 15th edition, which took place from 15 to 18 November, at Moldexpo.
