On 12-13 November, 2012, at the AGEPI took place the documentation visit of the Delegation of the National Office of Intellectual Property of Vietnam (NOIP), focused on the exchange of experience in the field of protection of industrial designs.
The NOIP Delegation included Mr. Hoang VAN TAN, Deputy Director General, Mr. Le NGOC LAM, Head of Industrial Designs Department, Ms. Nguyen Thi THAN HA, Head of Policy and Legislation Department, Ms. Vu Thi THUY LIEN, Expert in the International Cooperation Department.
The visit program provided for the NOIP Delegation meeting with the AGEPI Administration, in which the parties have exchanged experience on the activities of the two offices, and with the experts of the Trademarks and Industrial Designs Department. The Vietnamese Delegation was informed about the national system of intellectual property protection, the national procedure for examining applications for registration of industrial designs (receipt of applications, examination and adoption of decisions, issuance of certificates, completion of database, publication); international registration of industrial designs under the Hague Agreement (statistical data, stages of examination of applications, deadlines, etc.).
In turn, members of the NOIP Delegation presented the intellectual property protection system in Vietnam. It has also been presented the procedure of design examination with the Vietnamese office, and the pooled search database, used by the experts in industrial design of the Vietnamese office.
Although in Vietnam the industrial design is part of the procedure carried out by the Inventions Department and in the Republic of Moldova it is managed by the experts of the Trademarks and Industrial Designs Department, no essential differences were found in the design protection process in the two countries. Moreover, since both the Vietnamese Office and AGEPI undertake the substantive examination of this industrial property object.
During the meeting, there were also identified the priority directions of cooperation between the NOIP and AGEPI internationally and bilaterally.
