In the period from 13 to 18 May this year is held the documentation visit of the delegation of the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI), headed by Lilia Bolocan, Director General, at the State Intellectual Property Office of the People’s Republic of China (SIPO), based in Beijing.
The documentation visit takes place at the invitation of the President of SIPO Tian Lipu, according to the provisions of the IP Cooperation Agreement and the Joint Action Plan between AGEPI and SIPO, signed on 3 October 2012 in Geneva, Switzerland.
During the visit the AGEPI delegation familiarizes itself with the Chinese intellectual property protection system, SIPO experience in the field of implementation of the national IP strategy, practice of examination of application for the protection of IP objects, information technology used in office procedures, activities related to promotion of intellectual property, access to patent information, including information services in the field of intellectual property provided to enterprises, training programs for experts in the field of IP, and promotion of IP protection system in the Republic of Moldova.
In accordance with the documentation visit program, on 14 May was held the bilateral meeting of the AGEPI General Director and SIPO President, attended also by representatives of the Inventions Examination, International Cooperation and Promotion Departments of both offices.
During the meeting Ms. Lilia Bolocan and Mr. Tian Lipu have reviewed the results of offices over the past year in areas of common interest, namely: implementation of national IP strategy, examination of patent applications, utility models and industrial designs, international and regional cooperation on various global issues in the IP field, dissemination of patent information, staff training in the IP field, etc.
The leaders of both offices mentioned the increased role of IP offices in raising the awareness of the society, including the young generation, the importance of protection and enforcement of IP rights, and the need to develop for this purpose the promotional and training material in the field, in terms of growth, at this stage, of the role and impact of intellectual property, in particular innovations, in the economic development of the countries.
At the end of the bilateral meeting, AGEPI Director General and SIPO President reiterated the need to strengthen the bilateral relations between offices through organization of exchanges of experience and publications in the field of IP, participation in the events organized by the parties, in accordance with the priority directions of cooperation established in the Cooperation Agreement.
During its visit to Beijing, AGEPI delegation will also familiarize with the work of the SIPO Center for Cooperation in Examination, SIPO IP Training Center and IP Promotion Office in Zhongguancun, in terms of taking over the best practices in the given field.
